Hermes Baby. Made:1955

Was searching for a Hermes with german keyboard
and didn't have any luck here in US, but located one,
"Baby" model in Germany, in non-working condition.

Broken draw-spring, escapement skipped,
dirty key-slugs, paper-bail bent, rear L-corner,
had a large dent making carriage out of,
alignment and overall dirty inside.
Needed a good overhaul & service.

Couple of key's linkages were bent and didn't line,
up correctly in the basket.

Found a parts machine in New York that were
used for bringing this back to life again.
Escapement and carriage movement took some,
time before finally working correctly.

All back together again and here,
with a Hermes Rocket model from 1961.
Notice early Baby does not have ink-ribbon,
selector and different key's.

I like the small portable size of this,
machine, very easy carry with you.
Nice soft touch when typing & quality
even now 64 years later.
