Keeping contact in the past.

Before computers & cell-phones we had this marvelous way,
post-cards and writing letters by hand or using a typewriter.

A few cards I printed out at the local store 4x6,
for typing post-cards to friends with.

Remington Portable Nr: 2 (Barn-find)

New project: Remington 1922 Barn find:
Stored for many years inside a barn.
The wood case is still intact and machine,
almost complete, except for the 2 ink spools.
I think this will clean up nice, some before pictures:

Time to get the dust and grime off & cleaning,
segment and many other parts.

Finally found 2 new spools with black
heavy cotton ribbon online.

Some adjusting of the ribbon function was needed,
before movement in both direction worked again.

Here is Nr: 2 on L-side and Nr:1 on the right.
Notice the Nr:2 has two "shift keys"
That's how you can easy find out what kind of model it is.

Finished and fully functional !
Tested with ribbon from the other typewriter,
so worked out the "bugs" waiting for the new
cotton ribbon & metal spools to arrive in the mail.

Test sample with new cotton ribbon, very thick
and gives it the classic old look I think.

Quote of the day.

Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment.
We live by the currents, plan by the tides,
and follow the sun.

"The long unmeasured pulse of time moves everything.
There is nothing hidden that it cannot bring to light,
nothing once known that may not become unknown."
Nothing is impossible....

you'll get run over if you just sit there"

"Keep on loving each others like brothers and sisters,
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers,
for by so doing some people have shown hospitality,
to angels without knowing it"

those who use the brains,

Olympia SG-3L Made:1966.

Built very sturdy with aluminium frame,
and also the outer cover.
The two yellow levers release the carriage,
for easy cleaning & service.

First machine I encountered with such,
easy feature taking the whole carriage off.
Olympia really put engineering skills when,
fabricated this model, I am impressed.

And of course the handy dandy paper feeder
with the large pull lever.

Adjustable key-stroke makes a different print force.
I use backing paper on this machine.
